When we first got involved in the family entertainment business in 1995, we didn’t know what we were getting into. Was this a fad? Was this worth investing in? As first-time business owners we didn’t know what to expect. However, as parents we knew we wanted to create a clean, family friendly environment for our employees and guests. We recognized that there were few places that offered wholesome family entertainment that appealed to active lifestyles. For our guests we wanted to create a fun happy experience every visit. For our employees we wanted a safe, clean work environment for many first-time job holders to learn the skills and work ethic that would propel in their career level jobs.
We were told by someone in the industry that we would be able to make a difference in the lives of many of our young employees. Even though this struck an important note with us at the time, we didn’t realize how big a difference we could make, or how important this aspect of the business would become in our lives. Game On Social Hub is a safe haven for many of our people, and we became substitute parents for those that needed the help our guidance could provide. This has become a central tenant of our business and something in which we take a great deal of pride.
We were lucky to have a management staff in place to help guide us in our new venture. Many crew members have stayed with us for years. Others have left for grown up jobs and careers, but still tell us that they appreciate the experience and training they have with us. Recently a new phenomenon has started, where the children of some of our previous employees are being sent by their parents to work for us, giving us the opportunity to carry on these traditions with the next generation. That means the world to us. We are truly a family business and are proud of the difference we have made in people’s lives over the years. Our son, Jason, has become an integral part of the business, as has the management team that has worked with us from the beginning.
We also knew we wanted to be part of the community. We try to support local schools and organizations through donations, fundraisers and support. We look forward to continuing to work with these groups in the future. As locals, we know the struggles of our community, and know where we can help the most.
These past twenty seven years have been a thrilling ride. We are excited to see where this new brand will take us. The one thing that will never change is our commitment to our guests and our employees. For us, this isn’t just a job, but a calling. After all, the business of fun has to be taken very seriously.
